1.
Ichi No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae (bokken held at middle
position, tip slightly up)
Inhale, raise sword to jodan (high position with left
hand over forehead and right hand over head) while sliding R
foot back to L foot
Exhale, cut shomen uchi while sliding R foot forward
2. Ni No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan while sliding R foot to
rear off the line
Exhale, cut shomen uchi while sliding R foot forward
3. San No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan while sliding R foot to
rear off the line
Lower sword to waki gamae (left hand is close to your
center, right hand is close to right thigh, tip of sword is
hidden from person standing in front of you)
Step forward with right foot, raise the bokken over your
head and cut shomen uchi
4. Yon No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan while sliding R foot back
to L foot
Exhale, step forward with right foot and cut shomen uchi
Raise sword to jodan, step forward with left foot and
cut shomen uchi
Continue alternating sides as you walk across the mat
5. Go No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan, guard over your head with
the tip of the sword pointing to the right
Step forward and slightly to the left with your left
foot and cut shomen uchi
Raise sword to jodan and guard over your head with the
tip pointing to the left
Exhale, step forward with the right foot and cut shomen
uchi
Continue alternating sides as you walk across the mat
6. Roku No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan while sliding R foot to
rear off the line
Exhale, step forward with the right foot and cut shomen
uchi
Slide forward and thrust with blade of sword pointing
to the left. Your right hand is palm up underneath the sword.
Inhale, raise sword to jodan, guard over your head with
the tip of the sword pointing to the right
Step forward with the left foot and cut shomen uchi
Slide forward and thrust with the blade of the sword
pointing to the right. Your right hand is palm down on top of
the sword.
Continue alternating sides as you walk across the mat
7. Nana No Suburi
Begin in right hanmi, chudan no kamae
Inhale, raise sword to jodan while sliding R foot to
rear off the line
Exhale, step forward with the right foot and cut shomen
uchi
Step forward with the left foot and thrust with the blade
of the sword pointing to the right
Inhale, raise sword to jodan, guard over your head with
the tip of the sword pointing to the left, step forward with
your right foot and cut shomen uchi.
Continue alternating sides as you walk across the mat
