ICHI NO KUMI TACHI
Both uchi and uke start in migi ken kamae with tips separated.
1. Uke: Raise bokken straight
up, do not retract front foot. This creates an opening.Uchi:
Enter off line to the left foot, moving from the left foot.
Bring both feet together and cut from center of uke's chest
out to your left, finish with bokken in raised guard position
overhead.
2. Uke: Shuffle straight back
and cut straight down.
3. Uchi: Step forward with the
left foot and cut yokomen uchi.Uke: Step back with right foot,
cutting down on uchi's sword to parry
4. Uchi: Step across the line
to thr right with the right foot, guarding overhead and cut
yokomen uchi.Uke: Hold position, change feet so right foot is
forward, cut down on uchi's sword, settle and walk opponent
back.
2. NI NO KUMI TACHI
Both Uchi and Uke start in right kamae with tips apart.
1. Both Uchi and Uke lift swords
together until both swords are vertical.Uchi: Enter with right
foot and cut to uchi's front knee.
Uke: Shuffle back and block the strike, edge for edge. Lift
up your sword as if to cut uchi's wrist.
2. Uchi: Step in with left foot
and tsuki to the ribs.Uke: Step back with the right foot and
parry with extension.
3. Uchi: guard overhead, step
across the line with the right foot and cut yokomen uchi.Uke:
Step back with the left foot, raise sword to jodan and cut down
to counter
4. Uke: Press uchis blade
down.
5. Uchi: Enter with the left foot
and tsuki to ribs as in 7th suburi.Uke: Step back with the right
foot and parry with extension.
6. Uchi: Guard overhead, step
across the line with the right foot and cut yokomen uchi.Uke:
Stand ground, change feet so the right foot is forward, cut
down on uchi's sword and walk opponent back.
3. SAN NO KUMI TACHI
Both Uchi and Uke start in right kamae with blade tips crossed.
1. Uke: tap uchi's sword down
to the left and enter off the front foot to cut the neck.
2. Uchi: step off the line with
the left foot to the left, guard overhead and cut yokomen uchi.Uke
step back with the right foot and cut to parry.
3. Uchi: guard overhead and step
across the line with the right foot, strike yokomen uchi.Uke:
Change feet so the right foot is forward and cut to parryt,
walk opponent back.
4. YON NO KUMI TACHI
Both uchi and uke start in right kamae with blade tips crossed.
1. Both opponents separate slightly.
2. Uchi slides forward for tsuki.Uke
slides in, slightly to the right and tsuki.
3. Uke comes over the top of uchis
sword and parries to the left.
4. Uchi steps with the left foot
to the left and performs a tsuki to the ribs.Uke steps back
with right foot to parry the thrust.
5. Uchi steps with the right foot
across the line and strikes yokomen uchi.Uke changes feet so
the right foot is forwar and cuts down to parrydriving
in toward uchis center.
5. GO NO KUMI TACHI
Both uchi and uke start in right ken kamae with tips separated.
Uke lowers blade to create opening.
1. Uchi slides in with right foot
for shomen uchiUke steps to the left with the left foot to strike
yokomen uchi as in 1st awase left side
Uchi steps back with the right foot to the left rear for parry.
About 30 degree angle.
2. Uchi steps across the line
with right foot to strike shomen uchi.Uke steps back with the
left foot to parry, cutting down.
3. Uke slides in and drives sword
up to jodan.
4. Uchi steps with the left foot
to the left and strikes the back of ukes right knee. About
90 degrees.Uke steps across the line with the left foot and
then back with the right foot for low parry.
5. Uchi steps with the right foot
to strike yokomen uchi.Uke steps back slightly with the left
foot to parry strike.
